S-Phase is a nitriding process done at low temperatures ( <900ºF / 480ºC) where the corrosion resistance is improved compared to normal nitriding processes. The S-Phase also increased the hardness of the surface and case depths up to 25 microns below depending on the alloy. Typical materials are 300 series, PH series and Duplex stainless steels. Applications are for the medical and oil and gas industries.

In an effort to meet the high demands for a corrosion resistant, low fatigue, wear resistant stainless steel Ionic Technologies has developed a proprietary method called Ionic Diffusion SS. Ionic Diffusion SS is the diffusion of nitrogen into the surface of Stainless Steels without applying a coating that would mask the surface. Increased surface hardness to 1000 - 1200 HV 0.05 (70 - 74 HRc). Typical materials include A286, 300 series and Duplex stainless steels. In this process no elements are added and there is no change to the properties previously present.
